Welcome to depositscout.com (the "Website"), operated by DepositScout Ltd. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Website and the services we provide through it, including free accounts, paid products, our AI assistant Penny, and optional bank connections. By using the Website you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.
1. Who we are
DepositScout Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16573967, with its registered office at 124 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number ZC025953. You can contact us at [email protected].
2. What DepositScout is (and is not)
- DepositScout is an independent comparison and information service for UK savings accounts, ISAs, and bank switching offers. We also publish guides, news, videos, and free tools such as savings, ISA, and tax calculators.
- We are not a bank, building society, or financial adviser. We do not open accounts on your behalf, hold your money, or process deposits.
- We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Nothing on this Website is, or should be treated as, financial advice or a personal recommendation.
- When you choose a savings product, your contract is with the provider, not with us. Always check the provider's own terms before opening an account.
3. Information accuracy
- We work hard to keep rates, terms, and offers accurate and up to date, but providers can change their products without notice. We do not guarantee that any information on the Website is accurate, complete, or current.
- You must verify rates, terms, eligibility, and protection (such as FSCS coverage) directly with the provider before making any financial decision.
4. Your account
- You can create a free DepositScout account to use the dashboard, track your savings, set up rate alerts, and use other member features. You must provide accurate information and keep your login details secure.
- You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed it.
- You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these Terms, are used unlawfully, or abuse the service — where reasonable, we will tell you why.
- Information you add to the dashboard (such as account balances, rates, or salary details for the tax tools) is used to power those features for you. How we handle that data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
5. Paid products and payments
- Some DepositScout products are paid for. Prices and what is included are shown before you sign up.
- Payments are collected by Direct Debit through our payment provider, Stripe. Stripe collects and holds your bank details — we never see or store them. Direct Debit payments are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee.
- You can cancel a paid product at any time from your account or by contacting us. Cancellation stops future payments; it does not automatically refund past payments.
- If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at [email protected] and we will put it right.
6. Penny, our AI assistant
- Penny is an AI-powered savings assistant. Her answers are generated automatically (using Anthropic's AI models) from your questions and our published data.
- AI-generated answers can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Penny's responses are general information only — they are not financial advice and should not be relied on without checking the details with the provider.
- Please do not share sensitive personal information (such as full bank account numbers or passwords) with Penny.
7. Bank connections (open banking)
- You can optionally connect your bank accounts to the dashboard through our open banking partner (LunchFlow). This is read-only: we receive account names and balances so we can show them in your dashboard. We never receive your banking credentials or transaction history.
- Connecting a bank account is entirely optional and you can disconnect at any time from the dashboard.
- Open banking access is provided under your bank's and the open banking provider's own terms, which apply alongside these Terms.
8. Emails and rate alerts
If you subscribe to rate alerts, the weekly roundup, or other emails, we will send them to the address you give us. You can unsubscribe or change your preferences at any time using the links in any email or from your account.
9. API access
Access to the DepositScout data API is granted on request and may be subject to additional terms, usage limits, and fees agreed with you. You must not access our data by scraping, bulk downloading, or other automated means without our written permission.
10. Acceptable use
- Use the Website only for lawful purposes.
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, other users' accounts, or our systems, or to disrupt the service.
- Do not upload or transmit harmful or malicious content, or use the Website to send spam.
- Do not misuse Penny, the calculators, or other tools — for example by attempting to extract our underlying systems or using them to generate unlawful content.
11. How we make money
Some links on the Website are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you click through and open an account, at no extra cost to you. These relationships do not influence how products are ranked or reviewed. Full details are on our How We Make Money page.
12. Intellectual property
All content on the Website — including text, data, logos, graphics, and software — is owned by DepositScout Ltd or our licensors. You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, republish, or distribute it commercially without our permission. Provider names and logos belong to their respective owners.
13. Links to third parties
The Website links to external sites, including provider websites where you can open accounts. We are not responsible for their content, terms, or privacy practices. Anything you agree with a provider is between you and them.
14. Limitation of liability
- The Website and its content are provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties and are not liable for losses arising from your use of the Website, reliance on its content (including Penny's answers), service interruptions, or decisions you make about financial products.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under the law of England and Wales, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when we launch new features. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. If a change significantly affects paid products or your account, we will take reasonable steps to let you know. Continued use of the Website after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes — although if you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your home nation.
17. Contact us
For any questions about these Terms, contact [email protected]. To make a complaint, see our Complaints page.
