A look at the best current account switch offers available now, including bonuses of up to £500.

If you’ve been thinking about switching your bank account, now is one of the busiest periods of the year for cash incentives.

A number of major UK banks are currently offering switching bonuses, with mainstream deals topping out around £225 and premier offers going much higher for eligible customers. The Current Account Switch Service still promises a seven working day switch in most cases, which means moving banks is far less painful than it used to be.

For most people, the real attraction is simple: free cash for moving an account you may not be getting much value from anyway. But the best offer is not always the biggest headline number. Monthly fees, pay-in requirements, card spending rules and direct debit conditions can all change what a deal is actually worth.

Best switch offers available now

Here are the standout current account switch offers currently on the market.

Santander Edge: up to £225
Santander is offering £200 to switch, plus a £25 Amazon gift card in the deal highlighted by MoneySavingExpert. Santander’s Edge account also offers 1% cashback on selected household bills, though the account comes with a monthly fee.

Club Lloyds: £200
Club Lloyds is currently offering £200 to switch. The account also includes lifestyle perks, and Lloyds highlights linked savings benefits on its current account pages, though you need to watch the monthly fee rules and qualifying pay-in requirements.

Barclays Bank Account: £200
Barclays has a £200 switch offer running on its standard bank account. This is one of the cleaner mainstream offers if you just want a cash bonus without stepping into premier banking, although optional add-ons like Blue Rewards can affect the overall value. Barclays says this offer runs until 28 May 2026.

First Direct: £175
First Direct is still one of the most popular switching offers around, with £175 for eligible switchers. Its terms also require customers to pay in at least £1,000, make at least five debit card payments, and register for app or online banking within the qualifying window.

NatWest: £150
NatWest is offering £150 if you open a Select or Reward account and switch using CASS by 28 May 2026, with the switch needing to complete by 16 June 2026. Reward account customers should also factor in the £2 monthly fee when working out the net benefit.

Co-operative Bank: up to £175
The Co-op’s offer is split into two parts: £100 for switching, then £25 a month for up to three months if you continue actively using the account. That means the full £175 is available, but only if you keep meeting the monthly criteria such as deposits, card spending and active direct debits.

Best premier and high-income switch offers

For higher earners or customers with larger savings balances, the biggest bonuses are on premier accounts.

Lloyds Premier: £500
Lloyds is currently advertising up to £500 for switching to Lloyds Premier, making it one of the largest current account switch offers on the market right now. Eligibility depends on meeting the bank’s premier criteria.

Barclays Premier: £400
Barclays is offering a £400 switching bonus on its Premier Current Account. Barclays says customers typically need either a gross annual income of £75,000 paid into the account or at least £100,000 in savings or investments with the bank, and the offer runs to 30 April 2026.

HSBC Premier: £250
HSBC Premier is offering £250 for customers who complete a full switch and meet its eligibility rules. HSBC says this requires either a salary of £100,000+ paid into the account or £100,000+ transferred in savings or investments, with new customer restrictions also applying.

Which switch offer looks best?

For mainstream customers, Santander, Club Lloyds and Barclays are probably the most eye-catching deals at the moment, especially if you want a straightforward upfront bonus. Santander may appeal most if you also value bill cashback, while Club Lloyds can look stronger if you will actually use the lifestyle perk. Barclays is attractive because £200 is competitive for a standard account.

First Direct is still a strong all-round option too, particularly for people who value service and the linked regular saver rather than just the switching payment. NatWest and Co-op can work well, but both need a closer look at ongoing conditions and fees before assuming the headline incentive is the best value.

For premier customers, Lloyds Premier is the standout on pure headline value at £500, followed by Barclays Premier at £400. HSBC Premier’s £250 is lower, but some savers may find the broader HSBC Premier package or linked ISA incentives interesting depending on their wider banking setup.

What to check before you switch

Before applying, it is worth checking five things carefully.

  1. Whether you have had a bonus from that banking group before. Many switch deals exclude previous recipients, sometimes across sister brands too.

  2. Whether the switch must be a full CASS switch rather than just opening a new account. Most of the leading offers require a full switch that closes your old account.

  3. Watch the funding, direct debit and card spending requirements. Some offers pay quickly after the switch; others need ongoing monthly activity before you get the full bonus.

  4. Check the monthly account fee. A paid account can still be worth it, but only if the benefits or cashback outweigh the cost.

  5. Look beyond the switch incentive. A huge bonus is nice, but not if you end up with an account that is worse for your everyday banking, savings, overdraft costs or customer support. This is especially relevant if you plan to keep the account long after the reward lands.

Bottom line

The best bank switch offers right now are strong by recent standards, with mainstream deals reaching £225 and premier deals going as high as £500. For most people, Santander, Club Lloyds, Barclays and First Direct are the names most worth comparing first, while higher earners may want to look closely at Lloyds Premier, Barclays Premier and HSBC Premier.

Just do not focus only on the biggest number. The best switch deal is the one you can actually qualify for, complete properly, and still feel happy keeping once the free cash has been paid.
